Basesixty; where did we come from?

It all begins with an idea.

The lockdowns of 2020 might have marked a pivotal moment in history for many people. It has certainly been a catalyst for change in the commercial sector, with businesses and offices finding them selves adopting technologies and practices like video conferencing and working from home, with a rapid rate of change. If nothing else, these two developments have had a huge impact on our lives and how we structure our days. For me, at least, it has stirred a deep questioning of whether I am part of a machine that optimises for innovation, or if there is space for me to adapt and grow with similar vigour. If the constraints of ‘business as usual’ have been truly shrugged off, then what new energy, creativity and innovation can I inject into the surveying space. The answers to these questions have come back ‘positive’. Perhaps the surveying industry could do with fresh energy. We have been given new opportunities and I plan on taking them one way or another. I have fresh ideas for Building Surveying. I think we have opportunities to bridge gaps with other trades, professionals and technologies.

Tear up the scripts and just focus on helping solve problems.
